A few years ago, I became aware that British Columbia had several old ghost towns, many of which emerged around the turn of the 20th century in relation to various industries such as mining, lumber, or the railway.
One such place that captured my attention was the Valley of the Ghosts, which is centered around the ghost town of Sandon, located near Nelson.
Last August, I felt like taking a road trip. This seemed like an ideal fit, so I rented a car and hit the road. It was three glorious days of driving. The pace was probably more intense than most people would prefer, but for me, a good portion of the trip was about the driving itself. I genuinely enjoy driving.
As I was driving at a fast pace, I didn’t take many pictures, but here are a few that I particularly like. Regardless of the pace, if you’re seeking a laid-back adventure, the ghost towns of BC are an excellent option.
