About

What is this?

Syslo.gd is a blog I started as a place to share my technical musings and experiences related to my work and personal interests. As I began travelling extensively, I started incorporating information about travel as well. Images from events and silly antics also started showing up here. In a nutshell, this is the place where I can express myself when I need to exceed the constraints of 140 characters or share more than an image.

Who am I?

My name is Matt and I am a technologist. If you are interested in the nuts and bolts of my work, you can find that information on my LinkedIn page. In my personal time, I enjoy traveling, hiking, camping, cooking, and consuming media content. Additionally, I like to laugh, as you can see in this first post.

Years ago, I worked in the video game industry. You can see some of the games I have credit for:

I also sometimes play games too. https://www.exophase.com/user/matt604/

I’ve also published a guidebook for taking a sabbatical. That can be found here.

Why syslo.gd?

Syslogd is messaging daemon used by Unix operating systems to deliver information from the machine’s software to the users and other software.
